The Summer School program in our Skopje Office is more than just an internship; it is a platform for aspiring tech professionals to kickstart their careers. Running the Summer School 4 years in a row, we are proud to share the success stories of (a few of) our past interns who have transitioned into full-time roles within our company. In this blog, we highlight the journeys of Vancho, Tamara, Goran, and Dushanka (as pictured below), showcasing their career paths, current roles, and the invaluable experiences gained during their internships.
Dushanka Postolova, a Software Engineer in Init Norway, briefly describes her journey from an intern to a full-time employee:
"When I started my first internship at Init Norway in July 2021, I was diving into the unknown. With only academic knowledge and self-taught courses under my belt, I faced a steep learning curve. I was initially a humble and somewhat quiet person, but my passion and eagerness to learn pushed me out of my comfort zone.
The real turning point came from embracing the challenge of working with cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with a talented team of interns. The supportive work culture at Init Norway encouraged me to explore, ask questions, and grow. I learned that stepping out of my comfort zone was not just about acquiring new technical skills but also about building confidence and resilience."

Vancho Jordanovski , adds a little more value by sharing the most helpful skills and experiences that helped him transition to his current role of a Software Engineer:
"The key skills and experiences that facilitated my transition were centered around problem-solving and communication. During the internship, we focused on understanding how to approach and solve problems rather than just implementing specific solutions. This mindset was crucial in adapting to various challenges in my current role. Additionally, the importance of communication was emphasized, as even the best engineer needs to effectively collaborate with their team. These experiences helped me become more adaptable and prepared for the diverse tasks I encounter as a full-time employee."
Goran Todorovski, a (now) Senior QA Engineer, takes a path down the memory lane to share how the Summer School with Init Norway helped prepare him for a career in tech.
He says: "The Summer School was key to preparing me for a tech career. It offered a structured learning environment to develop essential software testing skills. Through workshops on the latest tools, hands-on projects, and mentorship from industry professionals, I gained the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in my internship and transition to a full-time role."
In the end, we have Tamara Milanovska, who went through all the steps to become a successful UX/UI Engineer, to share her best advice to current and future interns:
"Approach every task with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Do not be afraid to ask questions and seek feedback - it is one of the most effective ways to grow. Take the initiative and try to contribute meaningfully to projects, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. Lastly, always be open to new experiences and challenges, as they are opportunities to develop and refine your skills."
"My advice to current and future interns is to focus on learning how to approach and solve problems rather than just memorizing specific solutions. Embrace every opportunity to communicate and collaborate with your team, as effective communication is crucial for success in the tech industry. Take ownership of your work, this is what defines you as a software developer. And remember that everyone makes mistakes, it's what you do after those mistakes that matters."
